Vision Travel, Canada’s largest independently owned travel management company, recently surveyed their top destination wedding travel agents to find the latest trends in the romance travel market. The company which has been long known for group travel has many offerings for destination wedding seekers. Besides highly trained romance travel professionals they also offer dedicated couple’s websites and travel gift registries.

Stephen Smith, Vice President, Marketing & Communications states that the Caribbean and Mexico continue to be the most popular spots for romance travel for the Canadian market. He states, “The variety of accommodations, from private luxury villas to large all-inclusives is the major attraction. Added to that you have the ease of getting there, value for dollar and quality of service.”

Mexico tops the list as the preferred location for destination weddings with venues like Cancun, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta leading the way. This is followed by Jamaica and the Dominican Republic for the Caribbean. The average wedding party size is between 21-40 guests and the average spend per guest is between $1,001 – $2,000. For honeymoons, Saint Lucia, Barbados and Anguilla are the most popular but there is much interest now for Curacao who are establishing themselves as the gay friendly destination in the region.

This survey shows that the attraction to destination weddings continues to grow as couples look to start their lives together in some of the most exotic locations in the world. Vision Travel’s expertise will help to make the process worry free and your event memorable.
