Joel and I met at secondary school in Trinidad and began dating after he stole my seat in Economics class.
Eleven years later he proposed on my birthday, surprising me with a spa day and dinner at a hotel, and then with his grandmother’s engagement ring.
We chose to get married in Tobago because we wanted a Caribbean wedding that was a convenient distance for our guests.
On top of hiring a wedding planner, our loved ones contributed to making the event spectacular – the decorations were made by family and friends.
Our ceremony looked like a scene from ABC’s The Bachelor as we were married on a gazebo, beautifully adorned with magenta flowers cascading from vintage jam jars, that stretched into the Caribbean Sea.
It was a perfect, festive celebration of love.
