Real Wedding: Marisa and Suresh, Aruba

Marisa and Suresh’s lovely wedding was shared with us by our wonderful friends at Destination Weddings Travel Group.

For Marisa and Suresh, their love story all started at a nightclub. One night, Marisa lost her camera in the club and, in an effort to find it, she asked the DJ to make an announcement. Lucky for Suresh, he happened to be the DJ that night. Despite not finding her camera, Marisa came out of the club with much more that night, having met her future husband.

The pair chose a destination wedding for several reasons – in addition to the smaller, more intimate group of friends and family, Marisa and Suresh were happy to have an opportunity to relax on the beach after the Big Day was over. Aruba fit the bill perfectly, plus it was the first island they vacationed on together while dating.

As the majority of their guests were staying onsite, the couple was able to party with everyone and take in the beach and pool together. When asked to describe their destination wedding experience in three words, they emphatically agreed: “Joyful + Intimate + Fun = Our Wedding!”

From custom escort cards attached to mini alcohol bottles to a gorgeous guestbook sign, Marisa and Suresh infused their special day with bits of their personality from start to finish. Despite a small mix-up in Marisa’s vows (she called herself Suresh!), the wedding went smoothly and was exactly how the couple envisioned it.

Marisa and Suresh learned a thing or two about planning a destination wedding and shared a bit of advice for other couples that plan on tying the knot abroad. “Choose a destination that has a significant meaning to you,” they encouraged. “Do your research, ensure the destination location fits your budget, while also taking into consideration your families and friends.”
