Located in Derricks, on the west coast of Barbados, The Cliff Restaurant rests on a semi-private beach complete with rock formations supporting the restaurant on one side and private villas on the other, creating an intimate atmosphere for all who visit. Guests enter on the top floor where the bar is located. The bar opens to the lounge, with steps cut into the rock foundation (approximately 20 feet deep) to form a three-level, terraced seating area. This striking architecture makes guests feel as though they are sitting in an amphitheater. An L shaped extension then proceeds to the edges of the cliff to accommodate additional seating. The reaction of guests as they enter and venture downstairs is evidence that they have encountered a work of art. The Caribbean Sea which Peter Harris, General Manager of The Cliff, describes as appearing as “one with the usually clear blue sky” provides an exquisite backdrop to this ideal setting. Harris adds that some of the most amazing sunsets can be observed from the Restaurant, followed by a perfect evening under the shining stars.
The Cliff owner, Brian Ward, a Barbadian, started in the hospitality industry helping his family run a hotel by the name of Treasure Beach on the west coast of Barbados. Today he is known for creating an amazing piece of architecture that has made its mark not only in Barbados, but has been proclaimed as one of the 50 best restaurants in the world three years in a row. Brian continues to grow his vision, adding to his creation to ensure an unforgettable experience for his guests
The Cliff comes to life when night falls, as 80% of the ambient lighting is provided by 15 torches and numerous wall mounted candelabras. This sets the stage for a sophisticated, yet modest evening of service. Pair this with that natural warmth and kindness always found in Barbados and you will look no further for that perfect place to celebrate your wedding.
Every wedding at The Cliff is customized to the client’s needs, desires and budget. Whether you want to use just part of the restaurant or completely take it over, The Cliff staff is available to inspire you to stretch your imagination and create your dream wedding – from arriving at your wedding by boat, to a barbecue on the beach, from an offshore steel band, to a completely customised menu.
You not only receive a breathtaking venue, but a flawless experience from start to finish. From the moment the bride and groom step off the plane in Barbados, the staff at The Cliff ensures that they and their wedding are taken care. The staff works with couples and top wedding planners around the world to make every little detail perfect and the experience as stress-free as it should be in a tropical paradise like Barbados.
The Cliff caters for small intimate affairs as well as large parties up to approximately 180 guests. An evening by the sea would not be complete without the mouthwatering taste of char grilled swordfish with a Thai yellow curry sauce served over jasmine rice or the mahi mahi served with a baked potato cake and a horseradish – smoked salmon sauce or the Cajun salmon served with a pesto cream sauce. Since every dish is a favourite at the Cliff, the restaurant staff created a “Tasting Menu” for those who would like to sample everything!
At The Cliff you will find the best in service, setting and cuisine. With every wedding customised for each unique bride and groom, the restaurant’s motto is to “deliver beyond their expectation,” which is exactly what they have done for the last decade.
