Real wedding: Abigail & Richard, Puerto Rico

Real Wedding Puerto Rico

Abigail Garland & Richard Paul II
Wedding date: Friday, May 9, 2014

Richard and Abigail met at Bikram Yoga of Fort Myers. Abigail spotted Richard, who happened to be the only male under 50 years old in the class that she had seen in months. He was wearing shorts from Florida Gator.  Fortunately their cars were parked next to each other and after class they chatted about their love of the Gators.  A month later they went on their first date on the beach and the rest is history.

Abigail first visited Puerto Rico for work and fell in love with the island from the moment she stepped off the plane. The people were very welcoming and the food was just amazing. She wanted all her friends and family to experience the island as well.

The city of  Old San Juan is full of romance. When the couple first saw El Convento for the first time, they knew this was the place where they wanted to host an elegant wedding surrounded by old world beauty. The Campeche room looked like it belonged in the Great Gatsby movie with its marble black and white checked out floor. With this influence the couple decided to go with a black, white and gold colour scheme for the wedding.

For both Abigail and Richard the most unforgettable part of the day was the ceremony, walking down the aisle and saying their vows surrounded by 60 of their closest family and friends. After months of planning it was amazing for them to see everything come perfectly together.

Great advice that Abigail has for other destination brides is that planning from afar can be very intimidating and scary.  The person using a wedding planner can make everything easier and stress-free. They are always there to work with vendors and if anything comes up and can ensure everything is on time, on budget.
