The Right Dress for You
Choosing the right dress can be the most stressful part of planning your wedding but it does not have to be.
Here are some simple rules to follow:
Have a vision
Know before going dress shopping the style that you want. It can be very overwhelming walking into a bridal boutique and seeing 1000 dresses and be asked to choose the one you like. The last thing you want to do is end up making a rash decision just because you felt flustered or overwhelmed.
Dress your body
Choose a dress that flatters your body. The dress that you always dreamed of since you were a little girl may not be the best dress for your body type. Identify your assets and pick a style that flaunts them best.
Dress for the venue
The whole theme you have for your event should be consistent throughout all the different elements. Your flowers should go with your cake which should go with the decor which should go with your fashion choices. No sense wearing a cathedral veil if your ceremony is on the beach with your groom wearing khakis and flip flops. The general rule is match formal fashions to more formal venues and vice versa.
Plan ahead
In many boutiques most dresses take a while to be ordered since what you are trying on are just sample dresses. Your measurements are taken and the dress then comes from the manufacturer so give yourself some time for this to all take place.
Last minute fitting
Most couples pick out their outfits weeks or months in advance. With all the pressures of wedding planning you just may lose or gain some weight. It is important that you try on your clothes a few days before the wedding to make sure that everything fits and that you have enough time to make those necessary alterations.
