Legal requirements for Marriage in Antigua

Getting married in Antigua is very easy. Visit the Ministry of Justice located on lower Nevis Street in downtown St. John’s with your valid passports, complete the application, pay the applicable fees and confirm a date and time for the ceremony with a marriage officer.

Documents required for Marriage in Antigua

•  Valid Passports


•  If one of the parties is divorced, proof of a Decree Absolute


•  If either party was previously married and widowed, a certified copy of the Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate in respect of the deceased spouse

•  If either party is under 18 evidence of parental consent is required in the form of an affidavit

• Fees: There is a registration fee of US$40 that must be paid at the courthouse in the new government buildings on Queen Elizabeth Highway. The application fee for the marriage license is US$150 and the Marriage Officer’s fee is US$50
