Congratulations you are getting engaged and for choosing a destination wedding! My name is Natalia Zurawska and I am the Beauty Editor at Caribbean Bride. Being a professional makeup/hair artist for the last 10 years I have had to privilege of working with hundreds of brides of every different ethnicity. In the magazine and online I am going to give you some of the best beauty tips and details to consider for your special destination wedding!

Weddings are all about love, family and fun. Looking your best should just be an extension of how fabulous you feel. To get the perfect makeup look and hairstyle, going through magazines, the internet and Pinterest are very easy ways to get ideas and of the kind of result you want. Here is a quick list for some basic DOs and DON’Ts.

Our Bridal Beauty Tips

DO – Get a makeup artist to teach you locally or watch YouTube videos and practice, practice, practice. It is a great way to save money too. Having a girls night is great too. This way you can coordinate and communicate with your maid-of-honor and bridesmaids as well while you drink some wine and learn.

DO – Plan ahead if you want hair extensions. The colour, length and amount added are all important as well as comfort level. Remember it may be warm and humid in the Caribbean.

DON’T – Wax, thread, get a facial or use new products within a few days of your wedding day as you may not know how your skin will react. The last thing you want is a allergic reaction or rash on your wedding day!

DO– Book your appointment that I like to call the “beauty carwash” at least 48 hours before, for best results and with someone you have gone to before and trust. This includes manicures, pedicures, spray tan, root touchup, hair trim and waxing. A trial spray tan done months beforehand is also a great idea. This way you can see the result and go lighter or darker if needed. Always make sure to be well exfoliated as well as moisturized beforehand for the best results.

DON’T – Drastically change your appearance right before your wedding day. Cutting or dying your hair, adding long eyelash extensions, getting a dark spray tan. These can all affect your mood if you don’t like the results which show up in the pictures and change your overall enjoyment of the day. You want to feel your most comfortable and happy on your wedding day.

DO – Work with your natural hair texture. Wearing your hair up in a messy bun can look amazing, as well as it keeps you cool. You can always put your hair down as the sun goes down and night progresses.

DO – Check the weather forecast. Having little fans to give out to guests as well as sunblock kept in the fridge make great little gifts as well as adds comfort if it is really hot out.

DO – Have a little icepack to put in your makeup bag. It prevents makeup from melting.

I hope that you find these beauty tips useful. Have a beautiful wedding day and I look forward to seeing pictures! Please send them to fashion@caribbeanbride.com.
